CANADA PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM (PNP)
Canada offers a program referred to as The Provincial Nominee Program. The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in settling in a particular province. Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS score and are fast-tracked for an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Each province or territory has different requirements but the candidate and their family must reside and settle in the nominated area.
The Provincial Nominee Program is the fastest growing Canadian Immigration process and encourages candidates who can add to the skill shortage within a particular province or territory.
The application process is accessed via the Express Entry system and allows a permanent residency visa once the selection process is complete. Each Provincial Nominee Program has at least one immigration stream that is aligned with the federal Express Entry Immigration selection system.
The candidate needs to fall under the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), the Federal Skilled Trade Class (FSTC) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) in order to apply.
Therefore the candidate must meet the specific requirements of the particular Express Entry system in order to obtain their permanent residency via The Provincial Nominee Program.
The provinces and territories are as follows:
Alberta, British Colombia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Yukon. Quebec runs its own immigration program.
