In February 2022, the Government of Manitoba created the Immigration Advisory Council to improve the current immigration policies and programs. The Council, with the Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Immigration and Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Winnipeg, will review the entire immigration system of the province. The Council will provide recommendations to the Government of Manitoba to strengthen the Canada-Manitoba Immigration Agreement as well as include new annexes or memoranda of understanding to the agreement.
